Emergency Dentistry in Las Vegas, NV

Dentistry is a branch of medicine that doesn’t deal with too many emergencies. Most dental problems can be dealt with in an appointment a day or two later. Sometimes, however, it’s of the utmost importance to get dental attention in Las Vegas as soon as possible. Our clients being able to recognize what’s an emergency is essential for us here at The Tooth Family Dental.

When Do You Need Emergency Dental Care?

A knocked-out tooth or one with a large missing chunk is an emergency. Severe nerve damage should also be dealt with promptly. Alternatively, small cracks or a toothache don’t require urgent intervention and can be dealt with after getting an appointment.

What to Do Until You Get Medical Attention

First of all, you need to try to get in touch with us here at The Tooth Family Dental and see if you can come in for an appointment straight away. Sometimes we leave gaps in our schedule so we can accommodate emergencies. Even if it’s after we close, try and get in touch and we might be able to help.

In the meantime, you need to know what to do until we, or someone else, can see you. The priority is to try and keep the tooth in its place. Even if a tooth was completely knocked out of your mouth, try to put it back in its socket. To keep it there, you can bite on wet gauze to help. Don’t bite too hard and pay attention so that you don’t swallow it.

Keeping the tooth in a container is the alternative. Softly clean it with some water to remove any dirt before placing it. You should make sure that the tooth is immersed in milk or your saliva. These two can help preserve it until you reach a dentist.

An oral abscess could also need urgent medical attention. You’ll notice a hot and tender swelling in your oral cavity. You will also suffer from throbbing pain.

Dental emergencies aren’t many, and a lot of us may never experience them, but being able to recognize them is very important. Here at The Tooth Family Dental, we’ll try to fit you in and see you as quickly as possible. If you have a dental emergency, give us a call or visit our office. Walk-ins are welcome!
